Mother’s Day 2021 will be on Sunday, May 9. Mother’s Day traditionally involves presenting moms with flowers, cards and other gifts. Celebrations of mothers and motherhood can be traced back to the ancient Greeks and Romans, who held festivals in honor of the mother goddesses Rhea and Cybele, but the clearest modern precedent for Mother’s Day is the early Christian festival known as “Mothering Sunday.” Over time the Mothering Sunday tradition shifted into a more special holiday, and children would present their mothers with flowers and other tokens of appreciation.
Although Mother’s Day is a holiday honoring motherhood, the significance of Mother’s Day in today’s context has become a special occasion that most of ladies will dress up to celebrate somehow. Nothing more important than impressing our loved ones and feeling fabulous.
